Local Law Enforcement
Approximately fifty cars have been covered with what seems to be human bodily fluid in the German town of Hanau in proximity to Frankfurt, according to authorities.
Vehicles, exterior walls and postal boxes were defaced, sometimes with swastikas, they announced in a release.
Law enforcement state they were alerted during the night on Wednesday evening, when a individual observed that a automobile in the Lamboy district of Hanau had been smeared with a reddish fluid.
The substance had been applied in the pattern of a banned symbol, they stated.
Officers then located numerous other smeared cars and residential walls in the adjacent neighborhood.
Nazi symbols are prohibited in Germany under regulations prohibiting the public exhibition of symbols from the Nazi era.
Officials state early analysis suggest the substance was probably human blood.
"Currently there is no lead as to its source; officials are currently not aware of any physical harm in connection with the occurrence," they added.
Local authorities stated they were working "to solve the mystery" and have appealed to the public for details.
A high-ranking political figure stated the attack left him stunned and had to be addressed rapidly.
"This event affects the very heart of Hanau and reawakens the wounds of the right-wing attack five years ago," he posted on a platform, recalling the death of nine people by a gunman targeting people of migrant background in 2020.
